A water butt is a large barrel 一个很大的桶 for collecting rain 收集雨水 as it flows off a roof.

The hose was leaking.
妈妈看着这个 软管。软管 在漏水。
hose 软管，妈妈手上拿着的这个就是

“Oh bother!” said Mum.
“欧，麻烦来了！”妈妈说。
Oh bother，Oh no，Oh my
Dad mended the water butt.
He put a patch on it.
mend 就是 “修理”
patch 就是 “补丁”
爸爸 修理了 大水桶。
他放了一块 补丁 在上面。
“What a tricky job!” he said.
tricky 有两个意思，一个就是 “狡猾的，诡计多端的” 意思
另一个是 “难办的，难以对付” 的意思
“多么 复杂/难办 的工作啊！”他说。
What were the kids doing？
They were looking at the butt.
They were unhappy.
孩子们在做什么呢？
他们都在看着爸爸，为他着急。
他们都不是很开心。
What was Mum doing？
Mum was holding the leaking hose.
妈妈在做什么呢？
她正拿着那根漏水的软管。
The water butt burst.
All the water came out.
burst 就是 “爆裂，爆炸” 的意思
比如说 a tyre burst 车胎爆了
水桶 爆裂 了。
所有的水 流了出来。
came out 就是 “流出来” 的意思
Opps，
Dad got wet.
爸爸湿透了。

Mend 修理/修补
patch 补丁
妈妈 修补了 软管。
她放了一块 补丁 在上面。

The top of the tap came off.
tap 就是水龙头
妈妈把软管安在 龙头 上。
水龙头的顶端 裂开了。
Mum got very wet.

She was surprise.
