例：I will be able to afford a new house .
我將會有能力買新房子。
1.afford 是及物動詞，表示「買得起」 、「負擔得起」，之後可用名詞或虛詞to 引導的不定式短語作其賓語。而afford之前一定要有助動詞can 。
例：I afford that car .（錯）
I can afford that car .(對)
我買得起那輛車。
I don't afford to take the trip with you .(錯)
I can't afford to take the trip with you .(對)
我沒有錢和你一起去旅遊。
2.afford 若使用於一般將來時，理應說成：
I will can afford that car .(錯)
因will 與can 均為助動詞不能並存，此時應將can 改成 be able to ，即：
I will be able to afford that car .(對)
我會買得起那輛車。
結論：
can / be able to + afford +名詞
有能力買得起……
