Once there was a boy and the boy loved stars very much.

從前有一個男孩,他非常愛星星。

Every night the boy watched the stars from his window and wished he had one of his very own.

每天晚上這個男孩都會透過窗戶看著星星,希望他有一個星星是屬於他自己的。

He dreamed how this star might be his friend.

他夢想著和這顆星星成為好朋友，

They would play hide-and-go-seek and take long walks together.

他們可以一起捉迷藏，一起散步，走長長的路。

The boy decided he would try to catch one.

於是，男孩決定去抓一顆星星。

He thought that getting up early in the morning would be best,because then the star would be tired from being up in the sky all night.

他想，一定要在很早很早的時候就起床出發。因為星星整晚都掛在夜空中會疲憊的。

The next day he set out of sunrise.

於是，第二天日出他就出發了。

But he could not see a star anywhere. He sat down and waited for one to appear.

可他連一顆星星也沒有看到，他坐下來，等星星出現。

He waited……and he waited……and ate lunch.

他等啊……等啊……吃過了午飯。

……and waited.

……他還在等。

And after dinner he waited some more. Finally, just before the sun was about to go away, he saw a star.

吃過晚飯，他又繼續等。終於，就在太陽落下去之前，他看到了一顆星星。

The boy tried to jump up and grab it.But he could not jump high enough.

男孩跳起來，想去抓星星，可是他沒辦法跳那麼高。

So,very carefully, he climbed to the top of the tallest tree he could find.

於是，他找到一棵最高的樹，非常小心地爬到樹頂。

But the star was still way out of reach.

可是星星還是太遠了，夠不著。

He thought he might lasso the star with the life belt from his father's boat. But it was much too heavy for him to carry.

他想，他也許可以用爸爸船上的救生圈把星星套下來，可是救生圈太重了，他拿不動。

He thought he could fly up in his spaceship and just grab the star. But his spaceship had run out of petrol last Tuesday when he flew to the moon.

他想，他可以坐宇宙飛船去抓星星，可是上周二他去月球的時候，已經用光了飛船的汽油。

Perhaps he could get a sea gull to help him fly up into the sky to reach his star？But the only seagull he could find didn't want to help at all.

也許，他可以讓海鷗把他帶到天上，這樣，他就可以夠到星星了。可他找到的唯一一隻海鷗，卻不太願意幫忙。

The boy thought he would never catch a star.

男孩心想，他永遠都抓不到星星了。

Just then he noticed something floating in the water.It was the prettiest star he had ever seen.

就在這時，他發現水面上漂著一樣東西，一顆他見過的最美的星星，

Just a baby star.

一顆星寶寶。

It must have fallen from the sky.

它一定是從天上掉下來的。

He tried to fish the star out with his hands. But he couldn't reach it.

他試著用雙手把星星撈上來，可是他夠不到。

Then he had an idea. The star might wash up on the shore.He ran back along the jetty to the beach.

這時他想，星星可能會被衝到岸上來，於是，他順著棧橋朝岸邊跑去。

Then he waited and walked……and watched and waited……and，sure enough, the star washed up on the bright ，golden sand.

就這樣，他邊走邊等……邊看邊等……果然，星星被衝到了亮閃閃、金燦燦的沙灘上。

The boy had caught a star.A star of his very own.

男孩摘到了星星，一顆屬於他自己的星星。
