Require /rɪˈkwaɪə(r)/
v. 需要，依靠;使做(某事)，使擁有(某物)，(尤指根據法規)規定
It means to need sth. or to depend on sb./sth.; or to make sb. do or have sth., especially because it is necessary according to a particular law or set of rules.
它指的是需要某物或依賴某人/物;或使某人做某事物或擁有某事物，尤指因為根據特定的法律或規則而需要(這時常用被動形式 be required)。
The situation required that his parents should be present.
這種情況需要他的父母都在場。
What exactly is required of a reporter?
記者的職責到底是什麼?
Inquire /ɪn'kwaɪə(r)/
v. 打聽，詢問;查究，調查
It means to ask for information about sth.; or means to investigate sth. carefully.
它指的是詢問某事的相關信息;或指仔細調查某事。
He rang up to inquire about the train times.
他打電話查詢了列車的時刻。
Tom was appointed as an inspector to inquire into the affairs of this company.
Tom被任命為督察員調查該公司的事務。
