如果括號內給出的是形容詞，一般是考查副詞，即變成副詞形式。副詞一般是修飾句子中的動詞、形容詞、副詞或整個句子，在句子中做狀語，舉例如下：

The title will be____(official) given to me at a ceremony in Condon.
答案解析： official是形容詞，不能在句子中做狀語，通常只做定語或表語，修飾名詞，在這裡要修飾謂語 be given.所以要使用副詞。答案：officially.
但有時也要根據語境判斷是否需要變成名詞的形式或否定含義。例如：
2016（新課標卷I）
At last , her courage and ____(wise) impresed both the CEO and Princeton University .
答案解析：wise是形容詞，但此空與前面的名詞courage是並列成分，一起充當主語，所以要填寫名詞形式。答案：wisdom
Do you tend to yell and scream or say hurtful, mean _____(respectful) things.
答案解析：respectful是形容詞，後面接了名詞things，說明仍然要填寫形容詞，根據前面的形容詞hurtful（有害的），mean（吝嗇的）與所給的respectful （有禮貌的）相反，而且表示並列，所以要使用反義詞。答案：disrespectful。
另外，通常有表示範圍 in / of介詞短語或形容詞前有 the時，一般要用最高級；than的前面一定要用比較級；或根據上下文的語境來填寫最高級或比較級。分別舉例如下：
2016.(新課標II)
If you feel stressed by responsibilities at work ,you should take a step back and identify(識別) those of _____(great) and less importance .
答案解析：根據語境及下文的「and less importance 」可知，此處應用形容詞的比較級來修飾importance ,所以填greater.
2014.(全國卷I)
Finally, that hard work paid off and now the water in the river is ____(clean) than ever.
答案解析：clean後面有than,這裡就需要填寫比較級。答案：cleaner.
One of the _____ (bad) gift choices I ever made was for my high school English teacher.
答案解析：這是「one of the +最高級+名詞複數 的形式」，表示「其中最...的..之一」，bad的最高級是 worst。答案：worst.
