因為out這個詞太常見了，好用的詞組很多，那就接著之前的內容，再來學習幾個有意思的詞組吧！

1）Out to lunch

Out to lunch從字面看是「出去吃午飯」，確實你可以這麼認為，比如說：Adam is out to lunch right now，so I leave him a message.（亞當現在出去吃午飯了，所以我給他留了個言）。

但是，out to lunch在口語中，還可以指由於你疏忽大意，心不在焉，做了一些比較愚蠢的行為。因此，out to lunch可以是指愚蠢的，犯蠢的意思。

所以，有時候，當別人說Are you out to lunch不是在問你「出去吃午飯嗎」，而是在罵你！

英語例句看一看：

Did you just say that two plus three equals six？Wow，you are really out to lunch today.

你剛剛說二加三等於六嗎？哇，你今天可真夠蠢的！

Adam has been a little out to lunch lately，don't you think？

亞當最近有點蠢吶，你難道不覺得嗎？

2）Out of the blue

Out of blue從字面上看是「在藍色外面」，其實它來源於「藍色的天空突然間出現一道閃電（a bolt of lightning from a blue sky）」，因此有時也寫做out of a clear blue sky，指出乎意料地，突然地，猶如晴天霹靂一樣的，相當於是suddenly或是all of a sudden。

英語例句瞄一瞄：

The news must have come out of the blue because she seemed so surprised.

這個新聞肯定來得很突然，因為她看起來非常地吃驚。

The notice of Adam’s resignation came out of the blue.

亞當的辭職通知來得很突然。

3）Out of the picture

Picture是圖片或照片，從字面上看，out of the picture好像是「在照片外面」了。不過這個語境中，picture引申為「情景，局面」，那out of the picture意思是某人不在某個局面里了，在局外了。舉一反三一下，那in the picture意思就是在局內了。

英語例句瞅一瞅：

I like studying in the library so that all of the distractions will be out of the picture.

我喜歡在圖書館學習，這樣的話，所有令人分心的事情都不會再出現在我面前了。

Since Adam is out of the picture now，we don』t need to care about his objections.

由於亞當現在已經被排除在局外了，我們就不用再關心他的反對意見了。
