並列句(compound sentence)指的是由兩個或兩個以上的簡單句並列在一起構成的句子。並列句的通常結構是：簡單句+並列連詞+簡單句。其中的簡單句通常被叫做分句。並列連詞之前可用逗號，也可不用逗號。如：
He drank beer, and it made him fat. 他喝啤酒，因此發胖了。(並列連詞是and)
He was ill for a week, and during that week he ate nothing. 他病了一星期，在那一星期里他什麼也沒吃。(並列連詞是and)
Stephen realized his mistake and he apologized at once. 史蒂芬認識了他的錯誤，於是馬上道歉。(並列連詞是and)
