‘碰瓷’英文怎么说?】

在中国的新闻里, 时常会听到一些大爷大妈在街上恶意碰瓷. 这个现象是否也发生在美国呢?

To be honest, i couldn't find any equivalent to 'pengci' in English. I guess 'pengci' should be added to the English dictionary as is. It is, in a way, Chinese's contribution to the civilized world. In America, when someone is involved in an automobile accident, they almost never settle privately, instead people go through the proper insurance claim process so that they are assured the matter has been resolved legally and there will not be any repercussions later. If you think the other party is trying to extort money from you, then you can certainly call the police in, and let them deal with it. In most states, extortion counts as a felony offense and, if convicted, one can face up to 20 years imprisonment. That's why you will not see any Chinese elderly trying to 'pengci' in the US.

1. To be honest:

2. Equivalent:

3. As is: 如是.

For example: when you purchase(购买) an used car(二手车) privately, you get the car as is, the previous(前) owner will not do any repairs(修理) on the car to your liking(符合你的要求和喜好).

4. In a way: 某种意义上, 某种程度上.

5. Contribution: 贡献. 这里我当然是自我解嘲. the Americans have such a sense of humor (幽默感)that they can laugh at others and be laughed at and not get offended(冒犯).

6. Involved in: 卷入.

For example: the last thing(最不想发生的) a politician(政客) ever wants is to get involved in any scandal(丑闻).

7. Automobile:

8. Accident: 事故.

9. Settle:

For example: The Wilson family marched on(行进, 前进) to the west, finally settled in a valley(山谷) in Northern California, joining others also in search for gold.

10. Privately: 私下.

11. Proper:

12. Insurance claim:

13. Process: 过程.

14. Assure: 保证.

For example: there are three common states of matter: liquids(液体), solids(固体) and gases(气体).

16. Resolve: 解决.

17. Legally:

18. Repercussion: 后患.

19. The other party:

23. Offense:

24. Convicted: 定罪. the police does not have the right(权利) to convict anyone, it is up to(取决于) the court judge(法官) and the jury(陪审团) to decide.

25. Imprisonment:
