但凡名人出書，總是希望增加曝光度，甚至可能會曝一些「猛料」。英國前首相戴維•卡梅倫也不例外，只不過他為了賣書，連英國女王都拉了出來！
CNN：卡梅倫透露他請求女王在蘇格蘭公投問題上「揚一下眉毛」
英國前首相卡梅倫透露，在2014年蘇格蘭獨立公投期間，他曾請求女王能否「揚一下眉毛」，而隨後女王就很罕見的對英國政事發表了公開評論。
Former UK Prime Minister David Cameron has revealed he asked if Queen Elizabeth could "raise an eyebrow" during the 2014 Scottish independence referendum, a request that was shortly followed by Her Majesty making a rare public comment on British politics.
馬上學：raise (a few) eyebrows意為「引人側目，使人驚訝或不同意」。此處，卡梅倫是想讓女王給出不滿的暗示。
卡梅倫對BBC表示，在公投前，他去找女王的私人秘書尋求幫助，而當時蘇格蘭將決定脫離英格蘭與威爾斯聯邦的恐慌與日俱增。
Cameron told the BBC that he sought help from the Queen's private secretary before the vote, amid "mounting panic" that Scotland would decide to sever its union with England and Wales.
在BBC為卡梅倫回憶錄《For the Record》拍攝的紀錄片中，卡梅倫也曾說「並非尋求（王室方面）任何不恰當或違憲的東西。」
The former PM had said he was "not asking for anything that would be in any way improper or unconstitutional," during the BBC documentary marking the publication of his memoir "For the Record."

"But just a raising of the eyebrow, even you know a quarter of an inch, we thought would make a difference," Cameron said.
而事實上，女王的確有所行動。在蘇格蘭獨立公投前幾天，她說希望人們「認真考慮未來」，這樣的表態也被解讀為對蘇格蘭人考慮投票「脫英」的一種警示。
And that appears to be what the Queen did. Days before the vote, she said she hoped people would "think very carefully about the future," in what was seen as a warning to Scots considering voting to leave the union.

Scotland went on to reject independence by a margin of 55.3% to 44.7%.

When quizzed about the incident on the BBC's Today program, Cameron said: "I don't want to say anything more about this. I'm sure some people would think it may possibly even be that I have already said perhaps a little bit too much."

It wouldn't be the first time Cameron has revealed details about his relationship withthe Queen. A few weeks after the Scottish referendum he suggested the Queen "purred down the phone" when she was told about the result. Cameron later said he was "embarrassed" and "extremely sorry for" those remarks.

Cameron again told the BBC program the comments were a "terrible mistake" and he had apologized to the Queen.

卡梅倫和女王：王室對其言論「不滿意」
BBC報道稱，或許聽上去不嚴重。可是你要記得，畢竟王室極少評論政務或公共事務，所謂「不滿」實則分量很重了。
This might not sound like a big deal, but you have to bear in mind that the palace rarely, if ever, comments on politics or public affairs. "Displeasure" therefore has a lot of weight behind it.

Current Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he would not be drawn into his predecessor's discussions with the Queen."Not only do I not comment on conversations that I may have held with Her Majesty, but I don't comment on conversations she may have held with anybody else," Johnson told reporters.
根據BBC的解釋，女王是憲法意義上的，而非政治意義上的，也就是說經過選舉的政府有權力通過新法律，並為英國做出重大決策。而女王的職責通常是禮節性的。女王從形式上任命首相，但是在政治事務上必須保持中立。
The Queen role is constitutional, not political, meaning that an elected government has the power to pass new laws and make important decisions for the country. Her duties are largely ceremonial. The Queen formally appoints the prime minister of the day but must remain neutral when it comes to political matters.
所以，卡梅倫這番疑似「王室干政」的表態，可以說很勁爆了。當然，在他的新書里，這些其實……呃，都不算啥爆炸性的「乾貨」了。
